Containment Project

SOOOOO. since the end of the year is coming to a close, i want to make stuff in pottery that my family and i can use. we are kind of obsessed with the vietnamese soup called Pho. we love to get it to go and eat it at home, there is only one problem. The bowls at our house are not very good Pho bowls becuase they are wide and flat. when eating Pho, it is best to use a deep bowl because there is so much broth. so i decided to make Pho bowls so that my family can use them for eating Pho. :) i made the bowls but then Lisa told me i needed to do a lidded containment project so the bowls i am going to make are excellent for Pho and they are just cool! Here are some images of different types.
this one is my favortie because it is wide but also deep. this is what i would want my bowls to look like.

Where next?

IM IN LOVE. with a form!

i want to continue working on pitchers and also keep up my handle pulling so that i can only get better however i do also want to start bottles and when i was in my kitchen i found an empty bottle of wine and i knew that i loved the form and the way it felt in my hands. this is that form

Where am i?

so the cups that i did at the end of the semester turned out to be way longer and more work then i had expected. i threw 19 cups but now i have only about 13 (some not pictured) and finally they are being glazed and fired! thank the Lord :)

Also i thought that something that might go well with the cups so i made a pitcher and once i get the handle on i can fire that bad boy. pitchers are super easy and will most likely sell.

New Year !

Chinese New Year!

Fortune Cookies and the Year of the _______!

the year i was born was 1993 which was the year of the cock!

so i made a mini sculpture to represent the year i was born!

rather then make traditional fortune cookies, i made designer fortune cookies which i thought were super awesome! :)

im not feeling.

i am not feeling pottery i am just in a slump. i am having trouble throwing most days, i dont really want to cut the things i make and i am tired of the same old white glaze. the book is something i dread and this class has become more of an obligation than an enjoyment. :( its very sad.
